Stabbing attack in Southport UK injures at least 8 people

Merseyside Police declared the stabbing attack ‘major incident’

At least eight people, including children, were injured in a stabbing attack at a dance workshop in Southport, United Kingdom.

According to BBC, Merseyside Police, who called the attack a ‘major incident', said that the incident took place at a property on Hart Street in Southport at 11:50 BST.

The armed police have also ‘detained a man and seized a knife’ from him.

Moreover, as per the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS), they have given medical treatment to people with stab injuries, while some have been taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

NWAS also informed that it has ‘dispatched 13 ambulances along with specialised resources’ to the site of the incident.

Moreover, journalist Tim Johnson of Eye on Southport reported that the incident happened at the Hope of Hart Children's, near Taylor Swift Yoga and Dance Workshop.

Johnson claimed that among the injured, he saw a seriously injured girl on a stretcher. He described it as “horrible. I've never seen anything like it. There were so many police cars, it was a mass of blue lights. I saw ambulance men and women in tears. People were in tears in the streets."

Emily Spurrell, Merseyside police and crime commissioner, expressed deep shock at the incident and wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that there was ‘no wider risk to the public’ after a male was detained, while urging people not to speculate about the incident.
