Donald Trump shuts down 'clash' claims after heated Musk-Rubio dispute

US President Donald Trump recently organized a meeting with his cabinet members to talk about Elon Musk's push to cut government spending and reduce the number of government employees.

During the meeting, things got heated and Musk accused Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State for not doing enough to reduce staff at the State Department.

As per multiple outlets, Musk criticized Rubio by saying he was "good on TV" but avoided complimenting his work as the US Secretary of State.

Musk also had a disagreement with Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy regarding Musk's task force, the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) which allegedly tried to cut the number of air traffic controllers who were already short.

Duffy's department has been criticized following two airline crashes in the US.

As per the reports, after hearing the heated exchange Trump reportedly stepped in to clarify that he still supported Musk's Department.

However, moving forward, he clarified that the cabinet secretaries would take charge and Musk's team would only provide advice.

In the meantime, a spokesperson for the State Department stated that Rubio found the meeting to be an open and productive discussion.

Afterwards, Trump made his first public comment about what happened in the meeting on his social media site, Truth Social.

He said that he had instructed his secretaries to work with Doge on "cost-cutting measures."

While, during an event in the Oval Office on Friday, Trump denied that there had been any conflict, praised both Rubio and Musk, and stated that they had a good relationship.
