Prince William has put on an optimistic front after suffering a devastating defeat.

On Wednesday, April 9, the heir to the throne and die-hard fan of Aston Villa attended the match against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarterfinals.

The Royal had a roller coaster of a night in Paris with son Prince George, who was also in the crowd, marking his first official public outing of 2025.

Villa lost the match with 3-1, however William remained positive as the Royal turned to the official account of Prince and Princess of Wales to share a video.

The social media post, which featured pre-game meeting with the players and interview with the commentators, was paired with the caption that read, "A big night in the Champions League under the lights."

While choosing to stay hopeful for next big game, he added, "Not the result we wanted but it's not over yet! Bring on the second leg at Villa Park! UTV."

Ahead of the game, while talking to TNT, William said that he's on his "best behaviour" since he's joined by the 11-year-old Royal.

The Prince of Wales added, "But I thought, you know what, it's been 43 years since anything like this has happened in my generation as a Villa fan, and I want George to experience a night out away from home in a big European competition."

Notably, Aston Villa will once again face PSG in the second leg of Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday, April 16.
