Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit's son, Marius Borg Hoiby, was found guilty of horrific charges of rape.
On Monday, June 15th, Reuters reported that Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon has been sentenced to prison after being charged with two counts of rape, one count of domestic violence and other crimes.
Oslo Court announced that the 29-year-old royal family member should be sentenced to seven years and seven months of prison.
During today’s hearing, prosecutors revealed that Marius attempted an alleged rape in the basement of the crown prince’s home.
For context, Marius Borg Hoiby, Mette-Marit’s son from a relationship before her 2001 marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, was arrested and detained multiple times between August 2024 and February 2026.
Notably, earlier this year, he was detained ahead of his trial and has remained in custody since February 1st, 2026, due to the charges of domestic abuse, making threats, and raping four women, including his former flame.
The shocking rape case and the seriously ill crown princess's apology for maintaining contact with the late sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, have become a prominent reason for the declining popularity of the Norwegian royal family.
Notably, the court's fresh ruling was announced amid Mette-Marit's deteriorating health as she was placed on the national lung transplant list earlier this month.
The crown princess cancelled her work commitments in the wake of her serious illness, as she has around a year left to live without the transplant.
