
Gujrat Titan skipper Shubman Gill on Wednesday, March 27, was fined $14,400 EST (INR 12 lakh) by the Indian Premier League for maintaining a slow over-rate during the match against Chennai Super Kings.
Gill’s team was found guilty of maintaining a slow over-rate in the match on Tuesday, March 26, in Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, Times of India reported.
IPL said in an official statement, “As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to a minimum over rate offense, Gill was fined INR 12 lakhs.”
Gujarat Titans faced a setback in their second match of the league against Chennai Super Kings.
Skipper Gill won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Ruturaj Gaikwad’s CSK set a 207 runs target for Gill’s eleven. Gill's whole team was out for 143 runs in the second inning, with CSK winning the match by 63 runs.
CSK's Shivam Dube, who scored 51 runs off 23 balls, was named as player of the match.
Gujrat Titans began the 17th edition of the tournament with a win against Mumbai Indians on Sunday, March 24.
