Kareena Kapoor and Karisma opened up on the financial struggles faced by their mom Babita in raising them and how they overcame them.
Kareena and her elder sister Karisma were raised alone by their mother, and saw their father rarely as they were separated. The daughters received no financial or emotional support from the Kapoor family as Kareena said, “We were left alone.”
Randhir Kapoor and Babita got married on November 6, 1971. They starred together in their debut film Kal Aaj Aur Kal after which life took a big turn for Babita, as the couple separated. However, they never divorced.
In a chat with Mumbai Mirror, Kareena revealed, “Mum was always doing something, she single-handedly brought us up. She has a real estate business apart from other small businesses. It was tough. Though my father is also an important factor in my life.”
She added, “We were left alone to fend for ourselves. But now we see more of our father, though we did not see him often in our initial years. We are a family now.”
Their struggles ended when Karisma became a star. However, things now seem to settle down between the Kapoor family.
Randhir, who had moved in with his parents after the separation, decided now to sell his ancestral home and shift near the family.
Kareena is married to Saif Ali Khan and has 2 sons from him.
