In recent days, the United States (US) has been on high alert for a major retaliatory attack by Iran on Israel, amidst mounting fears of a broader regional conflict.
The US anticipates potential Iranian attacks on various places in Israel soon. The Biden administration is ready to aid in intercepting any weapons aimed at its ally.
As reported by CNN, American President Joe Biden stated at the White House on Friday that he anticipates Iran will attack Israel "sooner than later." When asked what message he wanted to convey to Iran, Biden simply said, "Don't."
Biden also said that, “We are devoted to the defense of Israel. We will support Israel, we will help defend Israel and Iran will not succeed.”
Biden, who recently cautioned about Iran's threat of a "significant attack" on Israel, has been receiving frequent updates on the situation from his national security team.
As the Iranian threat loomed, the US, along with several other countries like Britain and France, issued updated travel advisories for government employees in Israel.
The White House stated on Friday that there is still a "real," "credible," and "viable" threat of Iran launching strikes.
This comes after Israel's attack on an Iranian diplomatic compound in Syria last week, which resulted in the deaths of three Iranian generals.
Lebanon and Israel have technically been in a state of war since the establishment of Israel.
However, they have generally adhered to a ceasefire agreement since the conclusion of the 2006 Lebanon war.
