Lionel Messi once again made history with his performance at Gillette Stadium, Boston, on Saturday, April 27.
The GOAT scored two goals in front of a record crowd of 65,612 people, leading his team, Inter Miami CF, to a victory of 4-1 against the New England Revolution.
According to MLS Soccer, after these 2 goals, Messi has become the first player in Major League Soccer (MLS) to score 16 goals in his first 7 games.
Inter Miami CF posted about Messi’s historic record on the social media platform X (previously Twitter).
Messi scored his goals in the 32nd and 67th minute of the match.
Moreover, New England coach Caleb Porter said after the game, “I thought in the first half, after (our) goal, we had them locked up pretty good. They weren’t getting many chances; they weren’t getting a lot of time and space to operate. Then Messi did what he does, and he found a crack.”
Porter added, “They were able to find two goals when we felt pretty good about the defending and that we were limiting their effectiveness, creating clear chances. But, you know, that's Messi. He finds two goals out of nowhere and it exposes the detail in those moments from us.”
