Queen Elizabeth II had financially backed 492 organizations, but because King Charles and Queen Camilla already had hundreds listed before their coronation, a review of the patronages was called for that has now been completed.

In an announcement made on May 3, the Buckingham Palace wrote, “Following King Charles’ accession in September 2022, a major review of more than 1,000 Royal Patronages and charity Presidencies has been undertaken.”

“To mark the first anniversary of Their Majesties’ Coronation, the conclusions will be shared with relevant organizations in the coming week,” it informed.

Now, 376 of the late Queen Elizabeth’s money-backed firms have been promised support by King Charles and Queen Camilla themselves or by another royal.

This is because the couple has retained many of their own existing patronages, although some others have lost their support, as per Town&Country.

When King Charles was known as the Prince of Wales, he had over 440 businesses under his head, out of which only 367 have been kept for the future.

On the other hand, Queen Camilla oversaw at least 100 organizations as the Princess of Wales, and only about 91 have been given a green light.

The decision to bring the number of these companies down shows that there is a much smaller number of royals working in the family as compared to past times.

Most notable exit of these is Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle.
