Meghan Markle may love the Hollywood glam but it’s not on her list of priorities, it seems; the Duchess of Sussex reportedly received an invite to the prestigious Met Gala but chose to snub the event for something closer to her heart.

According to Mirror UK, Meghan was ‘hugely tempted’ to attend the Met Gala on May 6, however, it is believed by a royal expert that she chose to skip out on the glittering carpet because the gala clashed with her firstborn son, Prince Archie’s, fifth birthday!

Royal expert Tom Quinn revealed, “Meghan was hugely tempted to go to the Met Gala. She loves this kind of big, glitzy event, especially as it’s held to raise money for charity, and with the launch of her new online brand, she needs all the publicity she can get.”

"She may no longer be a working actor, but she’s addicted to mixing with celebrities – that's why she lives in Montecito next door to Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom and a host of other A-listers. The glamour associated with being a celebrity in the States has always been something Meghan can’t do without and an event such as the Met Gala is almost too tempting to resist,” Quinn further added.

He then went on to share that despite this, Meghan’s absence at the mega event may have been because she was busy planning out Archie’s birthday at home in Montecito.

As per Quinn, Meghan wants her kids’ birthdays to be "very private affairs" so that they can experience "the more ordinary things in life".

“When it comes to her children's birthdays, Meghan is almost obsessed with the idea that they should be quiet, very private affairs, with simple games, a birthday cake and ice cream,” Quinn explained.

"Meghan combines a deep sense of her own global importance in the wider world with a desire to make her children experience what she sees as the more ordinary things in life. So, for Archie's birthday, there will be friends from school, Meghan‘s mother Doria Ragland and one or two celebrities…,” he concluded.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son, Prince Archie, was born on May 6, 2019, just days short of the couple’s first wedding anniversary; they tied the knot in May, 2018.
