Emma Stone beamed with joy when a reporter called her by her birth name at the Cannes Film Festival 2024.
During a press conference for her upcoming film, Kinds of Kindness, on Saturday, May 18, the reporter accidentally referred Emma Stone by her real name, Emily, and she couldn't be more happy.
The La La Land actress turned excitedly to her upcoming films’ director, Yorgos Lanthimos and told him, “That's my real name.”
Prior to this Emily revealed in an interview with Hollywood Reporter in April that she had to change her real name Emily to Emma years ago as there was another actor in industry with Emily Stones.
She shared, "It’s just because my name was taken [by another actress in SAG]. Then I freaked out a couple of years ago. For some reason, I was like, I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.”
Although Emma Stone said that she doesn't mind when it comes to being called Emma or Emily, she revealed that she would prefer going by her real name, noting, “That would be so nice. I would like to be Emily.”
On the work front, Emma Stone's upcoming film Kind of Kindness, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, is slated to release on June 21, 2024.
