Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2018 wedding was a ‘miserable’ affair, a royal photographer who attended the event has claimed.

Photographer Arthur Edwards, who has covered a number of royal engagements, sat down for a chat with The Sun and revealed how the Sussex wedding was ‘one of the worst’.

Talking to Matt Wilkinson, royal editor at The Sun, Edwards said: “I was there. I hated the day, it was miserable.”

"I can tell you now it was the worst royal engagement I ever did, the worst royal wedding I ever did because Harry was determined to keep the newspapers away from it as much as possible,” he added.

Edwards then explained: “Everything was done on long lenses. It was hopeless. And when they went past in the carriage, they turned away from me. I felt it was deliberate, with the British press, in many ways they were badly treated.”

“Harry was angry at us about things said about Meghan. Some of the things were pretty harsh. Some were pretty unfair. He was angry and I felt we were punished for that,” the ace photographer continued.

Edwards concluded saying: “I've done some really lovely royal weddings, I did both of Charles', William's, Andrew's, Sophie and Edward's. But on this one, I couldn't get out of Windsor quick enough.”

The comments come days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary on May 19; they tied the knot at St George’s Chapel in 2018.
