Royal Family in worries after King Charles unexpected decision

King Charles' big decision left the royal family in fears

The Royal Family is confronting significant challenges as the average age of its working members reaches an all-time high of 69.

Ever since Charles became king, he has modernized the monarchy, updating the centuries-old institution for the modern era.

This year's King's official birthday parade was unique in that there were fewer Royal Family members than in prior years to appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

As of right present, working royals are 69 years old on average.

The average age of the eight active royals, excluding the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, is 77.

A source close to Prince William confided in The Mail: "When the older members of the family retire, His Royal Highness [Prince William] won't be inviting anyone else to become working royals."

They added: "It remains to be seen if he will even want his two younger children to be working royals."

Princess Anne once discussed her ideas to modernise the monarchy with CBC News, a Canadian public broadcaster.

She said, "Well, I think the ‘slimmed down’ was said in a day when there were a few more people around,” adding, "It doesn’t sound like a good idea from where I’m standing, I would say.

The Royal Princess also said, "I’m not quite sure what else we can do."
