Russian drone strikes hit Ukrainian energy facilities overnight, affecting regions between Kyiv and the Russian border.

As per Voice of America, the attack left tens of thousands without electricity, according to Ukraine's national power grid operator, Ukrenergo.

In Chernihiv, the governor reported that 15 people were injured, and infrastructure, including a dormitory in Nizhyn, was damaged. Specific details were not provided.

The strikes caused power outages for over 68,000 people in parts of Zhytomyr and Kyiv regions. By morning, about 30,000 people remained without electricity. These attacks are part of a pattern of near-daily assaults on Ukraine's power system since spring.

Ukraine's air force chief stated that air defences shot down 20 of the 22 Russian drones launched overnight. Most were intercepted in the southern Kherson and northeastern Sumy regions.

Meanwhile, in Kherson, six residential buildings were damaged, and significant fires broke out in open areas due to the attacks.

For several months, Russia has targeted Ukrainian energy infrastructure with missiles and drones, leading to widespread blackouts.
