According to Times, over the 19 days of the competition, around 10,500 athletes from 206 countries in the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will fight for close to 1,000 medals. There will be 329 medal events, among which 157 are for men, 152 for women, and 20 are mixed-gender events.

At the end of the first day, Australia has topped the list with 5 medals, 3 gold and 2 silver, whereas the United States has also won 5 medals, but 1 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals.

France is on third with 4 medals: 1 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze.

Moreover, China, South Korea, and Italy have bagged 3 medals, while Belgium, Japan, Kazakhstan, and Great Britain won 2 medals each.

Germany, Hong Kong, Canada, Fiji, Mongolia, Tunisia, Hungary, South Africa, Spain, and Sweden are running with one medal.
