Vice President Kamala Harris is set to tour key battleground states next week alongside her chosen vice presidential candidate.
As per Reuters, this move signals that the selection process for her running mate is nearing its conclusion.
Following President Joe Biden’s recent decision to withdraw from the race, Harris emerged as the Democratic frontrunner for the November 5 election.
The announcement of her vice presidential pick is expected before the tour begins.
The list of potential candidates includes Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, U.S. Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg.
However, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer have both indicated they are not in the running.
Battleground states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are crucial in determining the outcome of the presidential election.
Meanwhile, candidates have been actively campaigning and making public appearances to demonstrate their suitability for the role.
