Spanish clothing brand Mango’s founder and owner, Isak Andic, tragically died at the age of 71.

According to BBC, the billionaire businessman died in an accident on Saturday, December 14, 2024, while exploring mountains with his relatives near Barcelona, Spain.

Spanish media reported that the fashion chain's owner fell down a ravine while hiking in caves in the mountain range.

Barcelona-based company’s CEO, Toni Ruiz, announced the death of the Mango founder and stated, “It is with deep regret that we announce the unexpected death of Isak Andic, our non-executive chairman and founder of Mango.”

“Isak has been an example for all of us. He dedicated his life to Mango, leaving an indelible mark thanks to his strategic vision, his inspiring leadership, and his unwavering commitment to values that he himself imbued in our company,” he added.

As per reports, Andic reportedly fell down a 150-meter ravine while hiking the Montserrat mountains, known for their deep caves. Police were called at around 13:00 local time (12:00 GMT), after which a helicopter and specialised mountain unit were sent to the scene.

Born in Türkiye, Istanbul, Andic, who has a net worth of $4.5bn, with the help of his brother, Nahman, founded Mango in Barcelona in 1984, which now has almost 3,000 outlets in 120 countries.
