According to recent reports, Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, an Iraqi national linked to the IRGC-affiliated militia Kata’ib Hezbollah, was arrested in Turkey and extradited to the United States for allegedly plotting to assassinate Ivanka Trump.
Investigators claim the 32-year-old sought revenge for the 2020 U.S. drone strike that killed Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani.
Authorities discovered that AI-Saadi possessed a blueprint of Ms. Trump’s Florida residence and allegedly posted chilling online threats warning that “neither your palaces nor the Secret Service will protect you.”
The suspect is accused of involvement in numerous attacks across North America and Europe. He is currently being held in solitary confinement in a Brooklyn detention center as the investigation continues.
In response to these and other ongoing international tensions, President Donald Trump has remained in Washington, D.C., citing the need to manage government affairs.
He confirmed he would skip his son’s wedding telling reporters that the event’s timing was not ideal because of “a thing called Iran and other things.”
The administration is reportedly weighing potential military responses, though no final decisions have been reached regarding further strikes against Iranian interests.
