Meghan Markle, Prince Harry & kids land in Europe as UK visit hit with major obstacle

Despite their trip to the UK being hit with a major roadblock, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have touched down in Europe.

In a Sunday, June 28 report, PEOPLE shared that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have landed in Europe and are currently enjoying a vacation in the continent with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, days ahead of their scheduled trip to the United Kingdom.

The Spare author and his family’s trip comes after the couple confirmed on June 26 that they plan to visit Britain with their children in July to take part in events kicking off the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games, set to take place in Birmingham.

However, it is unclear where Harry, Meghan, and their children are vacationing.

This update comes after it was reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s plan to return to Harry’s homeland faced a major blow as the UK government refused to provide them taxpayer-funded security outside royal residences.

Prince Harry reconsidering UK visit with family

On Saturday, June 27, The Telegraph reported that King Charles’s younger son is rethinking his decision to bring his family to the UK after learning that his request to secure taxpayer-funded police protected was scrapped off by the government.

Speaking to The Guardian, an insider close to the father of two revealed that the prince was “distraught” when he got to know his request was declined, noting that he would not subject Archie and Lilibet to being “chased by paparazzi wherever they go from the moment they step off the plane.”

“Their plans to see family, friends and visit various charitable causes close to the duke’s heart have been pulled out from under their feet at the 11th hour. He’s looking at every option to try and get the family here safely and keep them safe when they’re on the ground. If he can find a way to do that he will,” shared the source.

They added, “The hope is they can meet their grandfather, but there is no way that can happen if they are chased by paparazzi wherever they go from the moment they step off the plane. He won’t put his children through that.”

However, Prince Harry, according to the insider, is still “looking at every option to try and get” his wife and kids to the UK "safely and keep them safe when they're on the ground,” adding, "If he can find a way to do that, he will.”
