James Middleton has publicly honoured a promise he made to his sister, the Princess of Wales, during her cancer battle.
After the Prince and Princess of Wales' official social media account shared Catherine's message marking the milestone, her brother left a heartfelt comment that resonated with many.
James replied with just a mountain emoji and a red heart, repeating the same symbolic gesture he made when Catherine disclosed her cancer diagnosis.
His understated tribute signaled that he had remained true to his vow to stand by his sister during her cancer battle.
James Middleton Instagram message in 2024
James Middleton first shared the message on Instagram on March 22, 2024, shortly after the Princess of Wales publicly revealed her cancer diagnosis.
Accompanying the post was a photograph showing the siblings together during their childhood years.
His heartfelt caption read: "Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will climb this one with you too."
Notably, the symbolic mountain and heart emojis returned in his latest message, transforming an expression of encouragement into a celebration of Princess Kate’s achievement.
He was also present in person to welcome Catherine as she descended from Snowdon, the final peak of her remarkable endeavour.
Princess Kate completes National Three Peaks Challenge
Kate Middleton shared a rare update on her cancer journey after completing the National Three Peaks Challenge, which involves climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.
Her challenge was centred on supporting The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which has launched a dedicated fundraising page for people across the nation to donate to.
She accompanied the milestone with a video message, revealing what inspired her to take on the feat.
Kate said, Lots of people have asked me why I'm doing this challenge, and partly - it's personal. I'm so grateful to be here, to be strong enough to walk these hills. But, more importantly, it's to give something back and acknowledge, really, all the incredible work going on up and down this country.”
The future Queen of Britain added, "I've met some incredible people - those people who are living with and beyond cancer - and I know personally how difficult that journey is.”
She mentioned, "And I really wanted to use this opportunity as my way of contributing to all the wonderful work that's going on, and in particular to support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity - an organisation very dear to me, but who do extraordinary work supporting those living with and beyond the disease."
Princess Kate cancer journey
The Princess of Wales announced in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with cancer and had begun a course of preventive chemotherapy.
By September, Princess Kate confirmed she had completed her chemotherapy, describing the last nine months as "incredibly tough" for her family, after having abdominal surgery at the start of the year.
