Imran Khan broke his silence on divorce with ex-wife Avantika, while supporting new girlfriend Lekha Washington, who was accused of being the homewrecker for the former couple.
During his recent interview to Vogue India, the Jane Tu Ya Jane Na actor, nearly after five years of speculation regarding his marital status, finally confirmed that he and Avantika got divorced in 2019.
“The speculation that I’m romantically involved with Lekha Washington is true. I’m divorced and have been separated since February 2019,” said Imran Khan, admitting his romance with Lekha.
Imran also reacted to the controversial remarks against Lekha on the internet, “There’s this narrative of Lekha being a homewrecker, which infuriates me because not only is it misogynistic but it also takes away my agency as an individual.”
He further added, “Lekha and I grew close during the lockdown, a year and a half after I had been separated from Avantika and almost a year after she had separated from her partner, not husband as it has been widely reported.”
For the unversed, Avantika and Imran Khan, who is nephew of the renowned Bollywood actor Aamir Khan tied the knot in 2011, and called it quits in 2019.
Imran and Avantika share daughter Imara.
