Elon Musk announced Twitter has become X.com

The social media site Twitter has finally fully migrated to X after changing the domain name to x.com on Friday, May 2024.

The tech giant and head of Tesla, Elon Musk, bought the social media platform in late 2022 for $44 billion.

After buying Twitter, he changed the name of the platform to ‘X.’ Although the logo and branding were changed, the domain remained Twitter.com, NDTV reported.

However, on Friday, Elon Musk announced, “All core systems are now on X.com.”

All the queries on Twitter.com were redirected to X.com on Friday morning.

Musk has multiple times used the letter X in the branding of his companies. In 1999, he set up an online financial superstore called X.com.

When Musk bought Twitter, he said he wanted ‘X’ to become a super-app along the lines of China's WeChat.

Chinese app WeChat weaves together multiple operations, including messaging, social media, video and voice calling, games, online payment news, and so many other services.

However, Musk's leadership has remained controversial for X as he has overseen major technical problems, fired thousands of staff, and reinstated accounts of right-winger conspiracy theorists as well as US former President Donald Trump.
