The singer is counted among the most exceptional ghazal maestros of India, giving listeners compositions like Raat Bhar Tanha Raha, Chhupana Bhi Nahi Aata, Jiye To Jiye Kaise, Maahiya Teri Kasam, and various other heartrending tracks.

He was born in Gujarat during 1951 and rose to fame in the '90s with fans marveling at his sorrowful vocal expressions sung for gloomy lyrics.

During this time, Jagjit Singh’s son had tragically lost his life in an accident.

Since this profound shock withdrew him from singing, people started finding solace in Pankaj’s cloudy voice.

Having numerous hits, awards, and albums to his name, he will be remembered as an outstanding achiever in the field of creatives.

“The ghazal will regain its lost glory,” the musician told Hindustan Times in 2016.
