Dhanush and wife Aishwarya Rajinikanth have chosen to officially split after over two years of separation.
According to information received by India Today, the duo had recently submitted an application for divorce at the Chennai family court, citing mutual consent under Section 13-B.
Their case will be reviewed with a hearing soon.
In January 2022, Dhanush had announced on X that he and his long-time spouse are no longer living with each other.
“18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents, and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting,” the actor wrote.
He added, “Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. We have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better.”
Aishwarya, who is superstar Rajinikanth’s daughter, soon floated the same note on her Instagram profile.
The couple had tied the knot on November 18, 2004. They have been co-parenting two sons, Yatra and Linga, who are currently in their teenhoods and are often spotted on shoot sets with their mother or father.
