Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli has passed away at his home in Florence, Italian news agency ANSA reported.
Fausto Puglisi, creative director at Roberto Cavalli confirmed the news of the designers death via Instagram, "Dear Roberto, you may not be physically here with us anymore but I know I will feel your spirit with me always. It is the greatest honour of my career to work under your legacy and to create for the brand you founded with such vision and style."
"Rest in peace you will be missed and you are loved by so many that your name will continue on, a beacon of inspiration for others, and especially for me. (sic)"
Sergio Azzolari, the chief executive of Roberto Cavalli also said "Roberto Cavalli Company shares condolences with Mr. Cavalli's family, his legacy remains a constant source of inspiration.”
Cavalli, who founded his fashion label in the early 1970’s, had been ill for some time.
It is pertinent to know that the flamboyant designer survives six children and a partner, leaving a void in their hearts with his demise.
Roberto Cavalli’s brand rose to international prominence in the 90’s with his designs worn by ace celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez.
