Sabrina Carpenter recalls her worst heartbreak following Joshua Bassett breakup.

During the April 11 episode of Apple 1’s New Music Daily with Zan Lowe, Carpenter said, "I was heartbroken two years ago. I was in a really, really different mental place.”

She added, “For me, that was truly my first heartbreak. And so I think when you’re going through something like that, you question everything about yourself and take it really personally.”

After the split, the On My Way singer began to feel worthless and started doubting her self-esteem.

“I felt unsure about myself. The ability to move throughout a room without questioning if people’s opinions are more important than your own,” Carpenter continued.

Sabrina Carpenter’s most recent song Espresso revolves around her breakup story and where she is in life now.

Regarding Espresso, the Thumbs crooner shares, “That’s why even just ‘my give a f(explicit)ks are on vacation, it’s such a simple funny line, but so much of this song really kind of gets to a place where it really measures up with where I’m at right now, and you have to go through life to get there.”

“I think there’s a big difference between two years ago and now, but I’m just having fun now, which I think is the biggest difference.”

To note, Sabrina Carpenter and Joshua Basset sparked dating rumors in June 2020.
