Nicola Coughlan opened up about that she was cautioned about the impact on her professional work opportunities if she voiced support for Palestine.

In a Teen Vogue cover story, the Bridgerton star talked about the much-awaited season three of the show. 

During the chat, she also spoke about her support for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Irish actor said, “There’s a huge connection between Ireland and Palestine that maybe a lot of people aren’t aware of, and a shared history,”

She further explained,” To me it always becomes about supporting innocent people. Are we supporting innocent people no matter where they’re from, who they are? That’s my drive.”

The Barbie actress has been told that she was warned about not getting working in Hollywood because she supports Palestine, but she continues to wear her Artists4Ceasefire pin.

“You do get told, ‘You won’t get work, you won’t do this,'” she admitted. 

She further added, “But I also think, deep down, if you know that you’re coming from a place of ‘I don’t want any innocent people to suffer,’ then I’m not worried about people’s reactions.”

Meanwhile, Nicola has been using social media to express her support for the people of Palestine, especially the children by the Israel-Hamas conflict. 

Acknowledging the reach, she enjoys as a celebrity, the Big Mood star said, “I’m so lucky I’ve gotten to this point in my career, and I’m privileged as a white woman, first off."

Elaborating on her place in the spotlight, Coughlan continued, "The fact that I get to do the job I love and travel the world and meet amazing people, I feel a moral responsibility to give back.”

On a professional front, Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton are set to lead Season three of Bridgerton, which will be released on Netflix in two parts on May 16 and June 13, 2024.
