Beyoncé has received a prestigious honour as her name finds its place in the French dictionary.
As per the reports of U.K. newspaper The Times and French outlet France 24, the Halo singer made her position among 40 people included in the Larousse dictionary, with her name highlighting her Louisiana Creole heritage.
Beyoncé's entry in the dictionary, which is listed as a proper noun, is, "American singer of R&B and pop."
The Times reported that she got a place among several French and foreign personalities selected for 2024’s update of the encyclopedic dictionary Petit Larousse Illustré, which was first published in 1905.
In the list, the names were included by the jury, which outlines an annual list of 150 words and people who are known amongst French-speaking communities.
As per the Sky News, more than 150 words new words have been added this year.
Other then Beyoncé actress Cate Blanchett, NBA player LeBron James and Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan were also included in the new updated list.
Carine Girac-Marinier, director of dictionaries and encyclopaedias at Larousse, told French news magazine Le Point that several of the terms "reflect concerns, developments, or strong movements this year."
According to The Times, Girac-Marinier also stated that it was critical that the people adhere to the "values of the Petit Larousse — excellence and promotion of French culture."
