The renowned author of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling spilled the beans about revealing a major Harry Potter character's secret to Alan Rickman even before it appeared on screen.

Rowling recorded an interview for her website to answer fan queries about her writing journey, and the preview of which has been acquired and transcribed by The Times of London.

During the interview, Rowling recalled “He (Alan) rang me up and said, ‘Look, I’m spinning plates here. I really need to understand what Snape’s up to? Am I a pure baddie?"

She added "He was the only person I told: You were in love with Harry’s mother."

Rowling further said “I talked him through it: ‘You are a double agent. But you do dislike Harry. You can’t overcome your quite visceral dislike of this boy who looks just like your arch enemy.’ So I told Alan Rickman what was coming, way before it came in the movies.”

Snape was one of the major characters of Harry Potter, who got killed in the series.

Alan Rickman, who played the role of Professor Severus Snape in all eight of the J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter movies, has died in 2016.
