Kristen Stewart has expressed of seeking “radical detachment” from the Hollywood industry.

She is currently keeping busy with her big screen directorial debut, which is a movie based on Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir called The Chronology of Water.

Stepping away from her home country, the actress has carefully decided to film her production in Latvia, Europe instead, even though there are scenes in the book that specifically unroll in the United States.

In an interview with Net-a-Porter, she said that the commitment comes from her craving of creative freedom that is not bound by American ideologies or cinema styles.

“It’s a fledging film culture there [in Latvia]. Look, I’m all about the way we make movies here, but I needed a sort of radical detachment,” Kristen Stewart explained.

She went on to highlight, “I am not a director yet. I need to make a student film. I can’t do that here.”

Previously, the star directed three music videos and two short films that included works for artists Chvrches and Boygenius.

Thinking inventively in this professional field of arts, she has even planned how her team will be dealing with the sequences that require filming in America.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Kristen Stewart will have sets in Latvia be transformed in such a way that they fit those locations that are desired for the story.
