Sydney Sweeney is gearing up to captivate the audience as she will step into the shoes of boxing legend Christy Martin in an upcoming biopic.
As reported by Deadline, David Michôd, who has also served as the director of Animal Kingdom and The King, will direct the upcoming biopic of the former American professional boxer.
While the prodution company Black Bear will produce the film, who previously produced Sweeney's horror film Immaculate.
The Idea Of You star will also fulfil the responsibilities of a producer in the movie.
Sydney in her conversation with Deadline said, "I grappled and did kickboxing from 12-19 years old. I've been itching to get back into the ring, train, and transform my body."
The Euphoria star added, "Christy's story isn't a light one, it's physically and emotionally demanding, there's a lot of weight to carry. But I love challenging myself."
"Christy Martin not only legitimized female boxing, she overcame gender stereotypes, and fought through emotional, physical, and financial abuse," Sydney Sweeney noted further about her role.
To note, Christy Martin made history in 2016 as the first female boxer to enter the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame and also became a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
Her remarkable career culminated in 49 victories, including 37 knockouts, 7 losses and 3 draws.
