Tom Selleck has shared a touching memory of Princess Diana at the 1985 White House Dinner.

During his recent interview with Town & Country, the Friends alum recalled the memory of when he nearly turned down the dance with the People’s Princess.

Discussing a passage from his new memoir You Never Know, Selleck confessed how he was anxious to meet the royals 40 years ago.

The Blue Bloods actor penned in his memoir that he found late Diana "charming, graceful, and beautiful," adding that she "makes you feel like you were important to him in your moment together."

We slipped away from all the dancers and moved to a spot slightly around the corner," Selleck wrote, per USA Today.

He continued, “By now John and Princess Di were dancing to an up-tempo number and rocking out. Everybody else stopped dancing and formed a circle around them, clapping their hands."

Selleck added, "Clint and I said nothing,' " before he recalled the woman saying, "'Mr. Selleck, you must step in and replace him.' "

“'I'M NOT CUTTING IN ON JOHN TRAVOLTA!' was my reply, probably in too loud a voice. She was not pleased," he stated.

The actor remarked, ““Princess Diana was lovely, and there was a very shy quality about her in spite of her being well schooled in the art of conversation.”

He also noted, “I gotta say she seemed to be having the time of her life. I was relieved she talked most of the time. Let's just say it was not my finest hour as a conversationalist.”

Tom Selleck's latest book, You Never Know, is now available in bookstores.
