Cillian Murphy’s highly anticipated horror film 28 Years Later, finally receives a release date!
As per Variety, the sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, is slated to release June 20, 2025.
However, the plot details for the new screenplay, written by Alex Garland, have not been disclosed yet
It will be part of a trilogy, with Nia DaCosta in discussions to helm the second instalment.
Danny Boyle and Garland will produce the flick and it’s original producers Andrew Macdonald and Peter Rice. Bernie Bellew will also be the part of it.
Cillian Murphy will not be a part of the film’s cast but he is set to make a comeback as an executive producer.
The Oppenheimer star shared with Variety in February, “I’ve always said I would love to be involved because that movie changed everything for me and I have great affection for it and for those guys Alex [Garland] and Danny [Boyle].”
He added, “I never watch my own films, except that one. It’s always on around Halloween and during the pandemic people were constantly sending me clips. And I’ve shown it to my kids. And it’s really stood up, even though it’s something like 23 years old now. So I’m really thrilled that we’ll get the band back together to makes this one.”
For the unversed, 28 Days Later was released in 2002 and the sequel, 28 Weeks Later, was released in 2007.
