Starlink, the satellite division of Elon Musk's SpaceX, has alerted users of a "degraded service" as Earth experiences the most significant geomagnetic storm in two decades due to solar activity.

Owning approximately 60% of Earth's 7,500 satellites, Starlink is a major player in satellite internet services.

The company posted on its website, stating, "Starlink is currently experiencing degraded service. Our team is investigating."

Earlier, in a post on X, the tech billionaire stated, "Starlink satellites were under a lot of pressure due to the geomagnetic storm, but were holding up so far."

Meanwhile, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has confirmed that this storm is the largest since October 2003 and is expected to persist throughout the weekend.

It poses risks to various systems, including navigation, power grids, and satellite services.

Moreover, Starlink's thousands of satellites in low-Earth orbit use advanced technology, including inter-satellite laser links, to transmit data at the speed of light, providing global internet coverage.

On the other hand, Elon Musk’s brain-implant company Neuralink recently admitted technical faults after introducing a brain chip to its first human patient.
