TikTok, a video-sharing app, is now experimenting with 60-minute-long video uploads.
According to The Verge, the hour-long video upload feature is available to certain users only as the app has no immediate plans to expand this feature widely.
TikTok, which was previously known for its short-form videos, has gradually extended the length of its video. In January, the company gave some content creators access to upload 30 minutes long video.
As for now, all TikTok users upload content as long as 10 minutes. However, the users and creators who sell subscriptions have access to upload 20-minute-long videos.
It seems that TikTok, the platform that began the era of short-form vertical videos, is experimenting with becoming YouTube.
Earlier this year TikTok sent a notification to its content creators that their content would get a ‘boost’ if they create horizontal clips instead of vertical.
Moreover, now the monetisation program of TikTok requires that content creators share videos that are longer than a minute in order to get monetised.
Meanwhile, seeing the popularity and massive audience of TikTok has caused several other companies, including Meta and YouTube, to add short-form video feeds to their platforms.
