A helicopter in a convoy carrying the Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi has been involved in an accident.
According to local media, a helicopter carrying president was involved in a hard landing while visiting a northern region on Sunday.
However, twenty rescue teams and drones have been sent to the area where the helicopter came down.
The aircraft, which was also carrying Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, came down in East Azerbaijan Province and emergency crews have so far been unable to reach it due to foggy conditions.
However, it is unclear what the exact status is of Raisi’s helicopter.
According to Tasnim News Agency, "Some of the president’s companions on this helicopter were able to communicate with Central Headquarters, raising hopes that the incident could have ended without casualties."
President Raisi was heading to the city of Tabriz, in the north west of Iran, after returning the border with Azerbaijan, where he opened the Qiz Qalasi and Khodaafarin dams.
Iran's FARS News agency has called on Iranians to pray for the leader's safety.
While, the convoy, consisting of three helicopters, two of which carried ministers and officials, safely reached their destination.
