Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are skipping their close friend and son Archie’s godfather Hugh Grosvenor’s wedding this summer, and expert say its because they know they are not welcome.
It was reported this week that the Sussexes will skip the ‘society wedding of the year’, while Prince William is confirmed to attend.
Commenting on this, royal expert Ingrid Seward said that both Prince Harry and Meghan’s absence from the event is for the good, as the ‘society doesn’t want them’.
Seward told The Sun: "Harry and Meghan obviously probably have no intention of flying 5,000miles to go to a wedding."
"It's the society wedding of the year when that society doesn't want to know them - especially Meghan," she added.
Seward went on to laud Harry and Meghan for skipping the wedding so they don't take attention away from the bride and groom.
“To give them their credit, they knew that their presence there would actually deflect completely from the bride and groom, and that often happens when royalty go to a wedding,” she said.
It is pertinent to note that Hugh Grosvenor, a childhood friend of Prince Harry, is the 7th Duke of Westminster and the richest in UK society; he inherited the Grosvenor Estate at just 25, making him a billionaire.
