Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who left the UK in 2020 after stepping down from their royal roles have seemingly deprived themselves of attending major royal events.

According to a royal expert, the Duke and Duchess of the Sussex are experiencing the “bitter taste” of their “self-imposed exile” as they have turned down the invitation of Hugh Grosvenor’s upcoming wedding to avoid any “awkward” interaction with brother Prince William or any other member of the royal family.

The 7th Duke of Westminster, a close friend of Harry and William, who is getting married next month has recently asked the Prince of Wales to be usher at his wedding, leaving the duke “triggered and betrayed,” as per the royal expert.

During his conversation with Mirror, the royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams explained Harry and Meghan’s irony noting, “Harry will reportedly not be attending the wedding of the Duke of Westminster to Olivia Henson on 7th June.”

He added, “The Duke is Archie’s godfather and he and Harry were close. However, it has been reported that William will be an usher and that George, who is also the Duke’s godson, may have a role in what will unquestionably be the society wedding of the year."

"It is therefore not surprising that, given the rift between the brothers, that Harry has, apparently, decided not to attend,” Richard explained.

The royal expert continued, "Self-imposed exile can have a bitter taste. What comparable private function could the Sussexes be asked to? They were, after all, not invited to Barack Obama’s 60th in 2021.”

To note, Hugh will toe the knot to Olivia Henson will at Chester Cathedral.
