In a significant announcement for the upcoming GT20 Canada 2024 season, Mohammad Rizwan has been appointed captain of the Vancouver Knights, with Babar Azam set to join the team under his leadership.

As per Geo Super, the tournament will take place from July 25 to August 11.

The franchise announced, "The Vancouver Knights have chosen their captain for GT20 Season 4: Sir Muhammad Rizwan. With his mighty batting skills and sharp wicketkeeping, he's ready to lead our charge to victory. Prepare for battle, Knights!"

Seven Pakistani players will be participating in the tournament:

Vancouver Knights: Babar Azam, Asif Ali, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Rizwan

Toronto Nationals: Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Nawaz

Bangla Tigers Mississauga: Iftikhar Ahmed

Other international cricketers set to join include Mohammad Nabi, Sunil Narine, Shakib Al Hasan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, David Wiese, Hazratullah Zazai, David Warner, and Carlos Brathwaite.

The Vancouver Knights won the first edition of the league in 2018, while the Winnipeg Hawks took the title in 2019. 

While, the defending champions are the Montreal Tigers, who won in 2023.
