Google is reportedly enhancing Play Protect, its cloud-based app-verification service, to include additional features aimed at safeguarding users from malicious apps.

According to a recent report, the tech giant is working on a 'Rescan' function for previously flagged harmful apps, allowing users to recheck them without needing to uninstall them.

This new functionality was discovered during an APK teardown of the Google Play Store app on Android.

However, this feature was found in version 41.9.17 of the Google Play Store app, but it is still under development and not yet available to users.

In addition to the 'Rescan' feature, Google is reportedly planning to introduce a new 'quarantine' functionality with Android 15.

This feature would enable system apps, such as Google Play Services or the Play Store, to isolate potentially harmful apps and impose restrictions on them.

Quarantined apps might not be allowed to show notifications or perform certain activities.

This feature was identified in an Android 15 beta update but has not yet been enabled.
