Matt Damon spilled the beans on hilarious story that he and his wife, Luciana Barroso, arrived "fashionably early" to the 2024 Met Gala, showing up nearly an hour and a half before their scheduled time.

During his appearance at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Damon shared a humorous anecdote about his experience at the 2024 Met Gala.

“Well, this year, Chris Hemsworth and Jennifer Lopez were the hosts. So, we were going because we had friends hosting it. … We actually did, like, a staycation where Lucy and I stayed at a hotel right by the museum,” he shared.

Damon explained, “we have to leave at 5 to get there at 6:23,”. but received a police escort, which led to their early arrival.

“We’re getting a police escort. It wasn’t part of the whole plan. So we left the hotel at 5 [p.m.], and we pulled up to the Met Ball at, like, 5:03,” he shared.

“[The gala] doesn’t start until 8 [p.m.],” Fallon added.

"We were bewildered," Damon recalled. "All these people with clipboards were like, 'Oh my god, what are you doing here?' We said, 'We'll just hang out here for an hour and 20 minutes.'"

The couple made the most of their early arrival, walking through the exhibit and enjoying the empty cocktail room.

“We were fashionably early,” Matt Damon said.
