Florence Pugh is praising the upcoming Marvel film Thunderbolts, calling it an "open and honest and truthful idea" and emphasizing that "we did it properly."

Speaking with PEOPLE at San Diego Comic-C on Saturday, July 27, the Black Widow starlet shared that her film Thunderbolts from Marvel Studios is something special.

The 28-year-old Oscar nominee acknowledged that the film "has been years in the making," adding, "there would be no point in doing this story unless we did it properly." This is the reason why the production took so long to complete.

She added, “There'd be no point in letting these characters come together and having their character arcs unless we actually spoke the truth about how they'd be feeling — and to come and make this movie in the way that we made it.”

Building the anticipation, Pugh stated, “I feel like this is something that we've never seen before from Marvel,” adding, “I feel like it's a very open and honest and truthful idea. And I'm just really excited for people to watch it.”

The Oppenheimer starlet mentioned about her castmates, “This is why we can't stop laughing together, because we genuinely just had such a wonderful time with each other and we've loved working with one another.”

To note, Pugh is coming back to play the Russian Black Widow Yelena Belova, who was initially shown in the 2021 film Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson.

Alongside her in the film are Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, also known as The Winter Soldier; Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine; Wyatt Russell as John Walker; Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster; and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost.
