'Fantastic Four' stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby discuss their MCU 'newbie' experience

Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby join 'Fantastic Four' cast to kick off Marvel phase 6 at Comic-Con


Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby reflect on their transition into the MCU, took center stage at Comic-Con to mark the beginning of Marvel's Phase 6.

On Saturday, July 27, at San Diego Comic-Con, fans were taken aback by members of the cast of The Fantastic Four, which opens in theatres on July 25, 2025.

The Last of Us star and  Kirby revealed to PEOPLE during the off-stage conversation that they haven't heard any guidance from previous MCU members regarding joining the franchise.

However, the Napoleon actress was eager to see her "old friend," Sebastian Stan, who was promoting his upcoming Marvel movie, Thunderbolts, later.

Kirby said, "We're the newbies," to PEOPLE.

"We're the newbies and we're in the newbie process," Pascal mentioned, adding, "We fly back tonight and start the movie."

"Yeah, we are," Kirby answered, saying, "First day [is] in 24 hours."

In the movie, Pedro Pascal plays Reed Richards, better known as Mister Fantastic; Vanessa Kirby plays Sue Storm, better known as the Invisible Woman; Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays Ben Grimm, better known as the Thing; and Joseph Quinn plays Johnny Storm, better known as the Human Torch.

To note, The Fantastic Four is released in U.S. theaters on July 25, 2025.
