WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new gesture feature for its Android users that allows faster message reactions.

According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, this new functionality lets users react to messages by double-tapping them, triggering a default heart emoji.

The feature, spotted in WhatsApp beta app version 2.24.16.7 for Android, aims to simplify the reaction process.

Instead of pressing and holding a message to select an emoji, users can now double-tap to send a heart emoji, similar to the quick reaction features found on other Meta Platforms apps like Instagram and Facebook.

Currently, this feature is only available to beta testers as it remains in development. Users enrolled in the Google Play Beta program may have access to this new functionality.

In addition to quick reactions, WhatsApp is also working on several other features, including live transcription of voice messages and real-time translation.
