A tragic stabbing incident claimed the lives of two children and left nine others injured at a local dance workshop yesterday on Hart Street in Southport, UK.

According to Merseyside Police, two adults got injured while trying to protect the children from the attacker.

A 17-year-old male from Banks, Lancashire, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. 

During a news conference, Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy confirmed that officers were called to the scene at 11:47 BST following reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, they found multiple victims, mostly children, who had been subjected to a brutal attack. 

Kennedy also expressed her condolences and sympathies to the victims' families, mentioning that as a mother and grandmother, she deeply empathized with the families' suffering.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer extended his condolences to the victims, their families, and the community.

He also praised the emergency services for their response to the tragic event.

Meanwhile, Journalist Tim Johnson from Eye on Southport reported that the incident occurred at the Hope of Hart children's club, located in a former warehouse. 

In addition to this,  Alder Hey Children's Hospital declared a major incident, and patients with stab injuries were taken to Aintree University Hospital and Southport and Formby Hospital.
