Donald Trump rebukes Paris Olympics ceremony over controversial scene

Elon Musk was among those who expressed their disapproval of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games opening ceremony

Former President Donald Trump has spoken out against the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, labeling it a "disgrace."

His criticism comes amid controversy over a scene that some critics believe parodied Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper."

In an interview with Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle" on Monday night, Trump expressed his disapproval of the performance, saying, “I thought it was terrible. I'm very open-minded, but what they did was a disgrace.”

Trump also remarked that if he had influence over the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, such a portrayal would not occur.

The performance, which featured dancers including some in drag around a table, has drawn significant backlash from various other personalities.

Elon Musk and Piers Morgan were among others who voiced their displeasure, with Musk describing the performance as "extremely disrespectful to Christians" and Morgan calling it a "drag queen mockery."

In response to the backlash, Paris 2024 artistic director Thomas Jolly clarified that the scene was not inspired by "The Last Supper." Instead, it was intended to represent a pagan feast celebrating diversity and French gastronomy.
