Simone Biles led Team USA to a gold medal in the women's gymnastics team final at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday, July 30.

This victory marks a triumphant return for Biles, who played a crucial role in the win after her withdrawal from the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

The team, featuring Biles, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Sunisa Lee, and Hezly Rivera, outperformed Italy and Brazil, who took silver and bronze, respectively.

Team USA's final score was 171.296, which was 5.802 points ahead of the second-place finishers.

For Biles, 27, this win marks her fifth Olympic gold medal whereas, this is the second gold for Lee and Carey and the first for Chiles and Rivera, who did not compete in any apparatuses during this event.

Team USA had previously won silver at the Tokyo and Beijing Games and gold in Rio and London.

The competition started strong for Team USA on the vault, with Biles, Carey, and Chiles all scoring above 14. Biles achieved the highest vault score of 14.900.

On the uneven bars, Chiles, Biles, and Lee also scored above 14. Lee led the team on the balance beam with a score of 14.600. In the floor routine, Lee scored 13.533, Chiles 13.966, and Biles 14.666.

At the Paris Olympics, Biles’s performances draw stars like Tom Cruise and Lady Gaga to the Bercy Arena. Her husband, Jonathan Owens of the Chicago Bears, was also there, cheering her on while wearing a supportive t-shirt.
