Julia Quinn is unveiling her vision about the future plans of Netflix's hit series Bridgerton!

The author of the best-selling eight-book series, which became a Netflix sensation thanks to Shonda Rhimes, told PEOPLE Magazine that the strategic vision and long-term game plan for the TV adaptation have been a part of the proposal since the beginning.

Bridgerton, whose only four seasons have been contracted by the Netflix deal of $100 million, is expected to have eight seasons altogether.

The executive producer, Shonda Rhimes, “is saying eight, and she’s the boss,” said the author to the outlet, which indicates each of Quinn’s novels getting their own seasons.

"One of the things that was very exciting when they actually first bought the series was that it was really clear to me that they put a lot of thought into it already," shared the writer.

Observing how the creators were deeply involved in the meticulous process of deciding which characters would be a part of adaptation, the author said, “In that process, it was really clear to me that they had a long plan and were really thinking about all the books.”

"I think that's been going through the whole way. Which is a long-winded way of saying, 'Yes, there are plans [for beyond season 4].' But, of course, those plans can always change," revealed Quinn.

“I never ever thought [the series] would get adapted,” told the writer.

Bridgerton season 3 was released on May 16, 2024, and featured Nicole Coughlan, Jonathan Bailey, Claudia Jessie, and Julie Andrews in the main roles.
