Godzilla Minus One has set the internet ablaze with its thrilling trailer.
Netflix finally released the back-and-white version of the hit movie on Thursday.
The hit film had a budget of 10–15 million.
Film director Takashi Yamazaki explained his decision to re-release the movie on Godzilla Minus One's official website.
"The team did not just make the film monochrome but coordinated it shot-by-shot, making full use of various mats, as if they were creating a new film. The goal was to create an image tone as if taken by the masters of black-and-white photography,” he said.
Takashi continued, "I asked them to unearth as much skin texture and landscape detail as possible, which were latent in the captured data. Then, Godzilla appeared, as terrifying and horrifying as in a documentary.”
Godzilla Minus One stars A-list Japanese actors including Minami Hamabe, Ryuunosuke Kamiki, Yuki Yamada and Sakura Ando in the main lead roles.
The official synopsis of the film read, “Japan has barely recovered from the Second World War when a gigantic peril emerges off the coast of Tokyo. Koichi, a deserter traumatised by his first confrontation with Godzilla, sees this as an opportunity to redeem his conduct during the war.”
The movie was initially released in November 3, 2024 without new edits and plot-twists.
