WhatsApp is testing a new feature for its AI chatbot, Meta AI, allowing users to send voice messages to the chatbot.

According to WABetaInfo, this feature is available in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.16.10 and is currently rolling out to a small group of beta testers.

However, the AI will respond to voice messages in text format.

Beta testers enrolled in the Google Play Beta program will see a new voice message icon next to the text field in the Meta AI chat interface.

This addition is expected to help users who prefer speaking over typing.

Previously, Meta AI was known for its multimodal capabilities, including image generation. This new feature marks its first venture into audio processing.

In addition, WhatsApp is testing a feature that allows users to quickly react to messages by double-tapping them, similar to Instagram and Facebook.

This action will add a heart emoji by default. This feature is also in beta, with no confirmed release date for the public.
